Check if a password has appeared in any data breach. Your password never leaves your browser—we use k-anonymity to check securely.
How it works:
Your password is hashed (SHA-1) in your browser. Only the first 5 characters of the hash are sent to HIBP. The full password and hash never leave your device.
Notes
- This tool uses the official HIBP API created by security researcher Troy Hunt.
- Email checks query the HIBP breach database. Password checks use the Pwned Passwords k-anonymity API.
- A "clean" result means the item wasn't found in HIBP's database—it doesn't guarantee it has never been breached.
